Géographiquement située au cœur de l’Union Européenne, Oyonnax compte plus de 23000 habitants. La deuxième ville de l’Ain en termes de population prend place au nord du département, dans le Pays du Haut-Bugey. Au carrefour des régions Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne et Franche-Comté, elle est encadrée par les agglomérations de Lyon et de Genève, chacune à moins d’une heure d’autoroute. La gare TGV de Nurieux permet de rejoindre Paris en 2h20. À la frontière du Jura, Oyonnax est entourée de plusieurs communes qui constituent la Communauté d’Agglomération du Haut-Bugey. Le massif montagneux influence la morphologie de la commune, avec un territoire étendu.
Geographically located in the heart of the European Union, Oyonnax has more than 23000 inhabitants. The second largest town in the Ain in terms of population is located in the north of the department, in the Haut-Bugey region. At the crossroads of the Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne and Franche-Comté regions, it is bordered by the conurbations of Lyon and Geneva, each less than an hour away by motorway. The TGV station in Nurieux allows you to reach Paris in 2 hours and 20 minutes. On the border with the Jura, Oyonnax is surrounded by several municipalities that make up the Haut-Bugey Agglomeration Community. The mountainous massif influences the morphology of the commune, with an extended territory.
